Transparency from Louisville Metro Government? Not today.

Remember in July when I reported findings of the 'single audit' of Metro Louisville that were released last Christmas?: -->

For that story, mayor spokesperson Chris Poynter had told us the single audits were uploaded online where people could find them. This year, that is apparently not the case.  My first attempt at using an open records request to obtain the findings were not fulfilled, meaning I won't have anything for y'all on this until 2013. No one should have to do an open records request to get these findings.

Check out the email chain where Mayor Greg Fischer's administration is trying to stall, after the jump:

This serves to acknowledge your clarification which we are processing as a separate request. You may expect a formal response within three Metro working days, noting that Tuesday, Jan. 1 is an official Metro holiday and no business will be conducted.

Ms. Allen,

I already have the CAFR. I was very specific in requesting the 'findings by Crowe Horwath.'

Pursuant to Kentucky's open records laws, I'm requesting that separate report referenced in the first paragraph of page 8 of the document you just sent me. Steve Rowland's CAFR letter indicates Crowe Horwath’s audit findings were “provided in a separate report.” I am requesting that report.

Thank you,

Peace,

In response to your request below, we have attached a copy of the FY12 final CAFR. However, typically when someone refers to "the single audit," it is in reference to the federal A-133 for FY12 which will be complete in March, 2013.  You may submit another request for that record following its completion.

By providing a copy of all available nonexempt records identified meeting your request description, we will consider this request to be complete.
